Tunisian singer, Saber Ruba’ee, performed on Sunday in the International Festival of Carthage. More than twelve thousand people attended the concert, which lasted for two hours reviving one of Carthage’s ancient theatres, reported AFP on Tuesday.
The orchestra consisted of twenty-three musicians playing tunes to which a large audience sang incessantly accompanying Ruba’ee’s voice. The Tunisian singer performed songs from his former albums in Arabic and English. He also performed songs like “A’az Al Habaieb-Dearest of All,” “Aqal Al Hub-Least of Love” and the much-admired song in the Arab world, “Seedi Mansour.”
Instrumentals were played between songs with Ruba’ee on the guitar in some, and on the violin in others displaying his multi-musical talents. The Tunisian ballet group, Siham Belkhojah, danced to the musical tunes waving across the stage and bracing a beautiful picture.
Ruba’ee’s singing career was launched in the eighties after his participation in the Children’s festival in Baghdad. He also won the first prize in Cairo’s Song Festival in 1997.
This year marked Ruba’ee’s third participation in the International Festival of Carthage-Albawaba.com.
