Association of British Hujjaj (pilgrims) UK a National Hajj and Umrah specific organisation express its deepest sorrow and sadness at the death of over 10 Pakistani-Umrah Pilgrims in a tragic road accident when their bus overturned 150 km north of Makkah on their way to Madinah.
"We would like to send our condolence and deepest sympathies to families, friends and relative of all those deceased pilgrims. It's highly regrettable that a substantial number of innocent pilgrims are losing their lives in such terrible circumstances" said Khalid Pervez, General Secretary of Association of British Hujjaj (Pilgrims) UK.
The journey of over 300 km between Makkah to Madinah which takes approximately 4-5 hours however regrettably there are no rest facilities of international standards available to the travellers. Long distance driving in such warm weather by bus drivers with lack of sleep or rest can be lethal and is considered as a contributing factor of these tragic accidents.
Therefore Association of British Hujjaj (Pilgrims) UK strongly urges the relevant authorities and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to take emergency measures to help and protect loss of pilgrims' lives. Every effort should be made to make this journey safer for pilgrims by addressing the real cause of these tragic road accidents.
Association of British Hujjaj (Pilgrims) UK also strongly stress that the Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia and the Government of Pakistan ensure that the families and relatives of the deceased pilgrims must get all the appropriate help and support at the difficult times of their lives.
