Bnp Paribas’ Ceo Baudouin Prot Wins The “Andese Prize For The 2006 Financier Of The Year” Award

Baudouin Prot, chief executive officer of BNP Paribas since 2003, has been declared the winner of “Andese Prize for the 2006 Financier of the Year” by prestigious international financial institutions.

The award has been given to the 55-year old Mr. Prot for his for the successful role he played in the acquisition of Italy-based BNL, which was conducted in a record time providing BNP Paribas a second retail market in Europe, and for the quality of the group results. BNP Paribas has enjoyed sharp growth in its international business and is now one of the world’s 10 leading banks.

Mr. Prot said: “With the integration of BNL, we have added a solid presence in Italy and a strong distributive capacity with large-scale potential growth, to the avant-garde European platforms of BNP Paribas. Italy is our second largest domestic market: France and Italy are geographically and culturally close, and so they offer the opportunity to transfer know-how efficiently and rapidly. We moved quickly and are going forward at a constantly accelerating rate.”

The prize is awarded to the person who has contributed the most to the development of the finance industry in France during the year. Groupe Finance de l’ANDESE, Association Nationale des Docteurs Es-Sciences Economiques, (National association for doctors of economic science) established the Andese prize in 1984. INVESTIR has hosted the prize since 1990 and together with FININFO since 2002.

The initial selection was made by a committee comprising Andese members and
representatives from Investir and Fininfo. The committee shortlists five after which the French financial community votes to choose the winner.

Baudouin Prot has been chief executive office of BNP Paribas since 2003. Mr. Prot joins the august group of previous Andese award winners including Patrick Ricard (2005), Jean-François Dehecq (2004), Thierry Breton (2003) and Maurice Levy (2002). Michel Pébereau was the 2001 winner for the success of the merger between BNP and Paribas.
