The United Kingdom’s leading provider of compliance services and social housing repair and maintenance is now operating in the Middle East through the establishment of Connaught Compliance Gulf Services.
CHSS Gulf, one of the region’s leading providers of health and safety training is now re-branded under this name. David Lea, Managing Director of Connaught Compliance Gulf Services, explains the change: “Our clients will still experience high standards and have the same contacts in the company but they’ll notice a wider menu of training, reflecting the additional areas of expertise providing them with even better services than before.”
He disclosed that Dubai Civil Engineering (DCE) has recently appointed Connaught Compliance Gulf Services for its health and safety training. As part of DCE’s Engineering’s HSE policy, it was decided that all project directors, head of departments, project managers, construction managers and safety officers should be trained in the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) Managing Safely course. The seventh group of delegates from DCE will be undertaking this course this month.
IOSH is Europe's leading body for health and safety professionals, with nearly 33,000 members worldwide, including 13,000 Chartered Safety and Health Practitioners.
“We are very aware that there is a demand for high quality health, safety and environmental training courses in the Gulf and that is why we have based our main offices for Turkey, the Middle East and across to India, here at Knowledge Village in Dubai,” Lea added.
Last year the company continued as the leading UK provider of IOSH and NEBOSH courses by way of a 90% pass rate on the General Certificate with over 1,200 delegates achieving above national average results each year and almost 500 passing the NEBOSH International General Certificate.
NEBOSH stands for National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health, which is an independent awarding body based in the United Kingdom. Its International Diploma comprises four units, namely managing health and safety; hazardous agents in the workplace; workplace and work equipment; and application of health and safety theory and practice.
“The NEBOSH International Diploma is an excellent professional qualification which covers all areas of health, safety and environmental issues, but we also have specific courses such as Fire Safety courses, which are particularly topical here in Dubai, given the recent spate of fires in industrial estates,” Lea further explained.
The winner of the 2007/8 NEBOSH International Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, Mr. Amr Hassan Mostafa from Egypt, studied with them, as did the UK winner of the NEBOSH National Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, Keren Cant.
In addition, Connaught Compliance Gulf Services will offer a range of environmental courses, specifically designed for Gulf clients, which cover issues such as potable water, soil erosion and local eco systems, as well as some new courses covering Legionellosis, which will be of great interest to those who have the responsibility for health and safety for customers in the hotel trade.
