ALBAWABA - Joe Biden has harshly criticized the US Supreme Court's ruling to grant Donald Trump broad immunity from prosecution for attempting to rig the 2020 presidential election.

Biden refers to this ruling as a "dangerous precedent" that violates the fundamental idea of equality before the law.

The 6-3 decision, according to Biden, "undermined the rule of law" and did a "terrible disservice to the people of this nation" because it makes it much less likely that Trump will be held legally responsible for inciting a mob to launch a deadly attack on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, during his five-minute speech from the White House.

The ruling means that voters will have to determine if Trump, the expected Republican nominee in the upcoming presidential election, is worthy of being entrusted with the office once more.

"This nation was founded on the principle that there are no kings in America," Biden said in his first public remarks since a weekend family gathering to consider the status of his own candidacy, which appears to be in jeopardy after a terrible performance in a televised debate with Trump last week.

"This is a fundamentally new principle. It’s a dangerous precedent because the power of the office will no longer be constrained by the law, even including the supreme court in the United States, the only limits will be self-imposed by the president alone," Biden said.
