Batelco Toastmasters Club Vice President of Public Relations Noreen Haji has taken first place in the recent Area 10 International Speech Contest which was held at the Bahrain Society of Engineers Hall, Juffair. Ms. Haji, who is an Information System Specialist with Batelco, has been a member of the Toastmasters Club since it was formed in July of last year.
Batelco GM Information Systems Saleh Tarradah who is Acting President of Batelco Toastmasters said that the team was delighted with Noreen’s success especially as their Club has only been in operation for 9 months and was competing against clubs with far more experience.
Batelco Toastmasters Club President, CFO Chris Gabriel who could not attend the event due to business commitments extended his congratulations to Noreen and the team on their fantastic success.
“Toastmasters is a great initiative to develop people in one of the most important disciplines of all, the art of communicating by speaking, thinking and listening,” said Mr. Gabriel.
“Public speaking and leadership can be taught scientifically through adopting Toastmasters international guidelines and manuals.”
“The mission of Batelco Toastmasters Club is to make a positive difference in the members’ personal growth, developing their communication and leadership skills through highly entertaining, social and educational meetings,” added Mr. Gabriel.
The event was attended by Toastmasters Division C Governor Ahmed Rizvi, Area 10 Governor Jawad Hayat plus scores of official and members from the area’s many Toastmasters Clubs.
Toastmasters International Club was established in 1924 to afford practice and training in the art of public speaking and while presiding over meetings, and to promote sociability and good fellowship among its members.
