Batelco, Bahrain’s leading telecommunications company has donated BD100,000 to Al Rahma Centre to provide support for their premises located in Riffa. Batelco Chairman Shaikh Hamad Bin Abdulla Al Khalifa presented the donation cheque to Al Rahma Centre Chairman and Governor of the Central bank of Bahrain Rasheed Al Maraj during a visit to the Centre.

The Al Rahma Centre houses the Batelco Recreational Centre, built from previous donations from the telecom company. The recreation centre is equipped with a wide range of equipment suited to the needs of the centre’s attendees.

Al Rahma Centre is a non-profit centre designed to care for mental retardation needs and provide comprehensive services and programmes for severely mentally retarded adults, both male and female, from the age of 15 up.

The donation is part of Batelco’s annual commitment to support a vast number of initiatives which benefit the people of Bahrain. Since 2003, Batelco has contributed US$19 million to a variety of health, educational, cultural, sports and community projects in the Kingdom.

“As a successful enterprise with deep roots in Bahraini society, we are delighted to make this contribution to Al Rahma Centre,” said Shaikh Hamad.
