Bank Sarasin-Alpen, a subsidiary of Switzerland's leading private banking institution Bank Sarasin & Company Ltd., together with it’s associate company, Alpen Capital Investment Bank, will be celebrating the launch of its Qatar operations earlier this year by holding its flagship ‘Global Fusion’ concert here on November 7th, 2008.

“Supporting art and music is an integral part of the Sarasin culture and the Global Fusion is a brand in itself promoting the Sarasin name across the GCC region,” said Rohit Walia, CEO & Executive Vice Chairman of Bank Sarasin-Alpen and Alpen Capital “The event serves as an ideal platform for client interaction and is a fitting expression of our pursuit of excellence where musicians who have attained the highest levels of critical acclaim and popularity come together to create an unforgettable musical experience”

The ‘Global Fusion’ event - which features world-renowned artists from a wide variety of genres, integrated in a single musical experience - was conceptualized to commemorate the launch of the bank’s operations in Dubai in 2005. It underlines not just the multi-cultural nature of its client base but also the increasingly globalized nature of the business world. Recognition of the cosmopolitan nature of the region and a taste for high art amongst its clients and business associates led the bank to create an unparalleled celebration of world class music and culture, featuring the greatest musical personalities from across the world.
The Doha ‘Global Fusion’ concert features the violin maestro Dr. L. Subramanian, who is collaborating with several other world class artists. These include Corky Siegel, Hubert Laws, Brahim Fribgane and Saeid Shanbehzadeh.

About the artists:
• Dr. L. Subramanian: Is called “The God of Indian Violin”. He has the serenity of an Indian musician combined with the magnetism of a western “star”. Constantly propelled from Singapore to Paris, from Delhi to Los Angeles, he has conquered every audience with the elegance and virtuosity of his style. His career as a childhood prodigy brought him into contact with the greatest musicians and he soon imposed himself as a master of the violin.
• Corky Siegel has earned an international reputation as one of the world’s great blues harmonica masters. He is a composer, blues pianist, singer/songwriter, and the winner of many prestigious awards.
• Hubert Laws, the Internationally renowned flutist is one of the few classical artists who have also mastered jazz, pop and rhythm-and-blues genres; moving effortlessly from one repertory to another.
• Brahim Fribgane is a remarkably creative and diverse musician who takes doumbek to new levels, expressing the rhythmic complexities of a drum set with this one instrument.
• The Ensemble is directed by Saeid Shanbehzadeh, and has delighted audiences in Iran, Europe and North America with the rhythms and subtle melodies of this astonishing musical performance.
