ALBAWABA - Thai authorities announced a state of emergency in Bangkok following the devastating earthquake that took place in Myanmar and caused damage in the Thai capital, Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra on Friday.
At least one person was announced dead and 43 are missing, local media reported citing Thai authorities on Friday.
AFP reported that damage was noticed in many buildings across the Thailand capital Bangkok after the 7.7-magnitude earthquake.
A video was shared online showing a 30-storey under-construction skyscraper being collapsed in the city's north after the massive quake.
At least 43 workers are trapped under the rubble, police and rescuers confirmed in Bangkok after a powerful earthquake hit the city, AFP added.
On the other hand, a major hospital in the capital of Myanmar confirmed that a 'mass casualty area' following the 7.7-magnitude earthquake, official added Friday.
