After three wonderful, fun and laughter-filled days, the “Let’s Succeed” Camp organized by Procter & Gamble and Bait Al Khair Charity Organization has come to a close, but not before leaving all the participants, with warm memories and valuable life lessons.
More than 35 orphan children, ranging in age from 9 to 13 years had a great time with the dozens of games, movies and Q&A sessions that focused on providing them with an understanding of what it takes to succeed in life. Particularly, they learned about the importance of knowledge, collaboration and discipline in achieving their life goals.
“The many smiles and waves of laughter over the days surely reflect the tremendous success of the camp. We are proud of our employee volunteers who took part, and in so doing reflected P&G’s commitment to helping improve the lives of those children in need,” said Mr. Alkarim Rajwani, P&G Vice President in the Arabian Peninsula.
More than 30 P&G employees ran the activities and acted as “big brothers and sisters” to the children, while members of the media volunteered their time to serve as judges for the games. “The charitable behavior of all participants is truly a model for other organizations in both the public and private sector and encourages us to continue expanding these program activities,” Mr. Rajwani added.
Ramzi Qanati, one of P&G’s big brothers, said, the success of the Camp means staying in touch with the children. Throughout the past three days I’ve built a special bond with these kids and I hope to maintain the relationship with these kids through future visits to them. I see that I can make a difference in their lives by being there for them not just for three days but for the whole year.”
Mr. Mohamed Bakar Bin Haidar, General Manager of Bait Al Khair Charity Organization stated, “Bait Al Khair aims at providing the utmost care for all the needy segments within the Emirates to further achieve its goals and vision. We also appreciate and welcome the support of the companies and organizations in the UAE for the active humanitarian role they play, which helps us reach our objectives.”
In addition to the learning games, there also was a screening of the children’s movie “Finding Nemo”, a fun-filled program on firefighting and fire safety with question-and-answer sessions lead by the Dubai Civil Defence.
The graduation ceremony at the end of the third day was attended by officials from the Dubai Civil Defence, Awqaf & Minor Affairs Foundation, Bait Al Khair, and Procter & Gamble.
One of the boys, ِAhmed Ali, said with tears of happiness in his eyes, “I enjoyed every single day of camp and felt that I really learned something new.” One of his fellow campers, Nora Abdulrahman, added, “We all are sad that it is coming to an end so soon. The three days passed so quickly, I wish it was for three weeks or even three months!”
The Let’s Succeed Camp is just the latest activity to join the P&G social program, “Bunyan”, which encompasses many other projects focusing on promoting health education and science education in the region.
P&G with its joint ventures Modern Products Company (MPC) and Modern Industries Company (MIC) has operated in the region for more than fifty years, are pioneers in the manufacture of leading household products such as Tide, Ariel, Pampers, Pantene and Head & Shoulders, which they produce from world-class manufacturing facilities in Jeddah and Dammam.
