BAHRAIN eCONTENT AWARDS ’09 WINNERS TO BE ANNOUNCED TODAY
Under the patronage of H.E. Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology (SCICT), the ceremony for the Bahrain eContent Awards ’09 will be held today Monday, 16th of March, commencing at 9:00 am at the Sheraton Hotel.
Over 400 entries were received by the organizers of the awards, 24 of which were selected as winners and 6 received special recognition. The winners were distributed over ten categories, which are: eGovernment, eHealth, eInclusion, eScience, eBusiness, eBanking, eMedia, eEntertainment, eLearning, and eCulture.
The meticulous evaluation process, performed over the course of 3 days from Jan 10th to 12th, 2009, by a 13 member international judging committee at the Bahrain Technology Institute, was conducted according to the highest global standards outlined by the World Summit Awards’ (WSA) governing body.
The winning entries will be unveiled in today’s ceremony, which will also be attended by several high-ranking officials from the public and private sector, including Government ministers, members of Parliament and Shura Council committees, and a number of leading businessmen in the Kingdom.
The WSA is a pioneering global initiative to encourage and select the best eContent in the world, and is one of the most prominent global efforts aimed at narrowing the existing digital divide between nearly 160 UN member nations.
