Austrian FM Arrives in Tehran for Bilateral Talks

Austrian Foreign Minister Benita Ferrero-Waldner arrived in Teheran Tuesday night for a three-day state visit aimed strengthening bilateral ties, reported the Iranian News Agency (IRNA).  

Heading a top delegation, Waldner is to hold talks with President Mohammed Khatami, her Iranian counterpart Kamal Kharrazi, Parliamentary  

Speaker, Mehdi Karroubi and Vice President Massoumeh Ebtekar. 

"Iran and Austria had continued their talks even at more difficult times, and my trip aims at continuing the dialogue at the bilateral level" Waldner told reporters upon her arrival in Tehran. 

Austria's export to Iran reached 145 million Euros in the year 2000, while the European country imported goods worth 22 million Euros during the same period. 

Iran, according to the agency, is the second Middle East trade partner of Austria, after Saudi Arabia – Albawaba.com
