Austrian Defense Minister Herbert Scheibner will visit Egypt on Monday for discussions on further cooperation between the two countries, reported Al Ahram daily.

Scheibner’s visit is at the invitation of his counterpart, Mohammed Tantawi.

The latest developments in the Middle East region will also top the agenda of talks between the two ministers, said the paper.

The two countries set up a joint business council in April during a visit by Austrian Trade Minister Marin Bartenstein.

Bartenstein’s visit came within the context of an initiative launched in 2000 between the Egyptian Commercial Bureau in Vienna and the Austria Embassy in Cairo on one side, and the Egyptian-Austria Chamber of Commerce and an Austrian investment company on the other, a previous report by Egypt Online said – Albawaba.com
