AUD VC Department organizes “Animation Day”

Live Demonstrations portrayed the Latest in Software, Animations, Visualizations and 3D Artwork


The Department of Visual Communication at The American University in Dubai (AUD) organized, on Tuesday, the 16th of December, 2008, an event entitled “Animation Day.” Curated by Sarah Lahti, Assistant Professor of Visual Communication at AUD, the event took place in the University’s premises and allowed students, from AUD and various other universities across the UAE, to network with each other, as well as with professionals from within the industry.

The event comprised a series of presentations by prominent dignitaries from the field. The speakers, who discussed their use of 3D software and showcased their artworks and visual products, included representatives from Dubai broadcasting, animation, and 3D production houses, as well as from the local academic community.

In addition, students received beneficial input on numerous companies renowned for their top notch illustrations within the sector of 3D artworks and animations. They were also presented with the new features of the latest versions of popular 3D software, as illustrated by Mr. Roland Reyer, the European representative for Autodesk.

On the importance of such events, Prof. Lahti noted, “This is an amazing time in the design world, with the tools for design and visual communication increasing in complexity, variety, and power -you can be at the cutting edge of the field, by being part of the “Animation Day” at The American University in Dubai.
