Three US troops were killed Thursday when they came under attack from gunfire and rocket-propelled grenades in northern Iraq, a military spokeswoman said, according to AP.

The 101st participated in Tuesday's raid a house in Mosul where Saddam's sons Uday and Qusay were killed, along with a teenager believed to be Qusay's son, and a bodyguard.

The deaths brought to 158 the number of US soldiers killed in action since the war started March 20, surpassing by 11 the death toll in the 1991 Gulf War.

On late Tuesday and Wednesday, two American soldiers were killed in separate attacks on their convoys, including one near the Mosul, and another in Ramadi, killing one soldier and wounding two more.

Elsewhere, US occupation troops opened fire Thursday on an Iraqi civilian vehicle, leaving the two occupants dead, witnesses said. "Within one minute of the shots the vehicle burst into flames," they were quoted as saying by news agencies.

Three separate witnesses at the site of the blast in central Baghdad claimed they believed the men were fighters of the Fedayeen militia loyal to Saddam Hussein.
