At least four people were killed when an armed group tried Saturday to capture the speaker of Somalia's transitional parliament Abdallah Derrow Issak, faction reports reaching said.
Seven others were reported wounded in the clash in south central Somalia.
Rahanwein Resistance Army (RRA) deputy commander Mohamed Ibrahim Habsde told AFP from Baidoa on Saturday that during fighting between RRA militia and those of the transition government, transitional education minister Mohamed Aden Kilai was captured by RRA forces.
The RRA also captured four armed vehicles and another one equipped with communications facilities, Habsde said, adding: "The RRA has offered a price of 3,000 dollars for the capture of Issak, who is on the run."
The RRA claims could not be immediately verified independently.
Issak, escorted by 20 armed battle-wagons and 150 gunmen, left Mogadishu early on Friday for a tour of the volatile southern Bakol and Bay region of Somalia -- MOGADISHU (AFP)
