Palestinian President Yasser Arafat discussed Friday over the phone the latest developments in the Palestinian territories with French President Jacque Chirac and chief of the European commission Romano Prodi, according to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
Arafat discussed with both officials the ongoing clashes and Israeli violations of the understandings reached with former Israeli prime minister Shimon Peres to halt the violence in the West Bank and Gaza.
Arafat is scheduled to go to Washington to hold talks with US President Bill Clinton in an effort to calm the situation – Albawaba.com
