An unspecified amount of stockpiled ammunition exploded Wednesday in a building in the Ain al-Hilweh Palestinian camp near Sidon, but there were no injuries, reported the Daily Star newspaper.

Building owner Rafik Houran and his family were home at the time of the blast, said the paper.

Palestinian sources said the blast may have been caused by a lit candle or faulty wiring.

They told the paper that Houran had been storing rocket-propelled grenades, hand grenades and other ammunition on the premises.

The ordnance, which went on detonating intermittently for 20 minutes, damaged the house and adjacent buildings – Albawaba.com
