Algeria has begun expelling a group of about two thousand illegal immigrants from sub-Saharan Africa who have been stranded on the border with Morocco for several months, reported the BBC.online.
Algerian security forces rounded up the immigrants at their makeshift camp on a dry river bed, and took them to temporary accommodation in the nearby town of Maghnia, said the BBC.
The security forces then burned down their plastic and cardboard shelters.
Reports say about two hundred of the immigrants, from Gambia, Senegal, and Nigeria, have already begun the long journey southward to their homes.
