ALBAWABA - The death toll from methyl alcohol poisoning has risen to 9, with 17 infections, according to the Public Security Directorate in Jordan.
It also added in a brief statement on Monday that all injuries are being treated, and the investigation into the case is still ongoing.
For his part, the Director of the Technical Affairs Department at the Ministry of Health, Imad Abu Yaqeen, said that more than 15 cases of alcohol poisoning arrived at hospitals yesterday, with their conditions ranging from critical to very serious.
These cases were admitted as a result of alcohol consumption, which was found to contain a toxic substance, methanol, Yaqeen confirmed.
He explained that Zarqa Government Hospital received three patients with symptoms mimicking toxicity, which led to elevated blood acidity.
