ASPIRE Academy Hosts the Five Day Camp

ASPIRE Academy hosted the ninth season of Al Bawasel annual camp for diabetic children, organised in partnership with the Qatar Diabetes Foundation as part of ASPIRE’s vision to promote health awareness among Qatari society.

The camp, which took on an international feel with children from 13 countries from the region participating, was organised under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, with partnership and support from the Qatar Foundation.

Children came from Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Libya, Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Yemen, Jordon, Oman, Palestine and Sudan.

ASPIRE hosts the camp each year as part of the strong relationship between the academy and the Qatar Diabetes Foundation, and to create an openness for all social activities to promote health awareness and prevention through sport.

The ASPIRE Academy, who hosted the children in the students accommodation, provided daily tests from the ASPIRE medical team and offered health advice on how to avoid bad nutrition. ASPIRE also provided the international-standard facilities to the guests to allow them to play their favourite sports.

Laurent Joliat, Communication Manager, ASPIRE said: “We are committed at ASPIRE to supporting the local community and highlighting ways to prevent diabetes. By providing health advice in a simple way from our medical team, the children at the camp learned about how to control diabetes and reduce the risks.”

All the children in the camp praised the high-quality care and the help they received from the ASPIRE staff during their stay. They also expressed their delight to be at the ASPIRE Academy and looked forward to visiting again.

Dr. Abdullah al-Hamaq, CEO, Qatar Diabetes Foundation said: “The aim behind organising the camp is to take the children out of isolation and provide them with support in the right environment with their counterparts from other countries to give them hope. It provides them with the ability to cope with by offering a daily program of activities that will help and give them the strength to challenges the disease.”

The head of the delegation thanked the ASPIRE staff for their hospitality and the excellent residences they were provided.
