Aggreko plc, the global leader in the rental of power generation and temperature control services today announced that it has been contracted to supply an 8 MW / 4.16kV stand-by power package on board the floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) Conkouati, currently operating in the Yombo field, off the coast of Congo.

Contracted by the owners of the FPSO, CMS Nomeco, the 8 MW power package will be used as facility power whilst the steam turbines on board the FPSO undergo an extensive overhaul. Power from the Aggreko package will enable uninterrupted production during the maintenance period.

"We were working to a tight maintenance schedule and a temporary power supply was required urgently,” said Dany Watoukoula, deputy operations manager for CMS Nomeco. “We were impressed with the expedited service Aggreko supplied, mobilising the equipment quickly, efficiently and within budget.”

“Within four weeks of contract negotiations, the entire 8 MW power package was operational,” said Colin Gaston, Aggreko Area Director, highlighting Aggreko’s reputation to respond rapidly. “In order to install our power package quickly and efficiently, we mobilised equipment from recently completed contracts in Africa, with equipment received from Mauritania, Nigeria, and an ongoing project in Cabinda,” he said

Ancillaries for the contract were shipped from the Aggreko international base in Dubai, United Arab Emirates to the Congolese Port of Pointe Noire in preparation for offshore installation on board the FPSO. “When you consider the urgency and scale of the project, this provides an excellent example of team work between our customer and the various Aggreko field locations involved.”

CMS Nomeco is part of the Perenco Group of companies that operates the offshore Emeraude and Yombo fields. The Yombo field produces some 11,000 bpd of heavy crude oil, which is processed in the field.
