Carrefour, the world's second largest retailer, and its partners have donated AED 840,000 to help provide Iftar meals throughout the month of Ramadan. The meals were given away to thousands of disadvantaged people in the UAE through a partnership with the Red Crescent, the world's largest humanitarian charity network.
More than 3500 products on sale at Carrefour and Carrefour Express stores were highlighted by a special Red Crescent logo. When customers bought any of these products, they were helping to support the campaign, with additional proceeds providing even more free meals for those in need.
Henry Changeux, GCC Country Head of Carrefour says, "Ramadan is a truly special time, and gives us all cause to think about how we can help those less fortunate than ourselves. We want to give a huge thank you to our partners and our customers, who have helped ensure that thousands of people who might otherwise go hungry received meals during Ramadan."
Partner companies involved in the Campaign are: Federal Foods, Unilever, Al Ain, Longboard, Air & Co., Babygro, Kenwood, Black & Decker, Philips, Prestige, Hadi Enterprises, Country Hill International, Del Monte, Unifrutti, Kingdom Dates, Emirates Dates, Bateel, IFFCO, Village Valley, Kibson, Farzana, Farm Fresh, Iran Dubai, Commu biz, Fresh Fruit Company, Arabian Asia, Grand Castle and Nahda Egypt.
