Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC), the agency responsible for the future of Abu Dhabi’s urban regional environments today received a delegation of the United States of America headed by H.E Richard Olson, United States Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates. The United States delegation was received by H.E Falah Al Ahbabi, General Manager, Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council at the UPC office in Abu Dhabi.
The United States delegation visited the UPC and was presented with key aspects of the unique Vision 2030, which reflects a new identity that represents Abu Dhabi Emirates’ Plan 2030 Urban Framework. The visit also serves as strengthening the ties between the UPC and the United States Embassy in the UAE as well as exploring opportunities to exchange best practices in sustainability.
Under the ambit of the Vision 2030, the UPC briefed the visiting delegation about the key objectives of the vision that have laid the foundations for the formulation of benchmark masterplans like the recently unveiled Capital City District. The delegation was also briefed in detail about UPC’s sustainability initiative, Estidama, which is being viewed as Abu Dhabi’s contribution to the global debate on sustainability.
Commenting on the U.S delegation visit, H.E Falah Al Ahbabi, General Manager, Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council said “It is indeed a pleasure for the UPC to host H.E Richard Olson other esteemed delegates from the United States of America. The delegation visit provided us with an opportunity to share the key elements of the inspirational Plan Abu Dhabi 2030 which is changing the shape of Abu Dhabi and describe a concrete example with the upcoming implementation phases of the Capital City District masterplan that prove that we are now setting the stage".
The foresight to plan for infrastructure ahead of time provides the UPC with the opportunity to highlight its guiding principles while defining contemporary urban frameworks suited to regional requirements.
