Details of the $36 million development package, signed in July as part of a Franco-Lebanese economic cooperation agreement were released Wednesday by French Ambassador, Philippe Lecourtier, the Daily Star reported Thursday.
Under the agreement, 17 contracts between the Council for Development and Reconstruction and private French firms have been signed, the daily added.
More than 75 percent of the $36 million in French government and private sector money will go toward water treatment and purification works, the paper said, adding that it includes the construction of five waste-water treatment plants by French companies and Lebanese civil engineering firms in Chekka, Batroun, Jbeil, Ras Nabi Younes and Nabatieh.
