Some 21 international and local companies are competing for an Omani government contract to operate and maintain the gas transportation network, reported Oman Observer Sunday.

Pre-qualification bids submitted by the companies are currently under evaluation by Oman Gas Company SAOC (OGC), the state-owned undertaking which will acquire the network and associated facilities from the government, according to the report.

OGC, jointly owned by the government (80 per cent) and Oman Oil Company (20 per cent), was established last year with the aim of obtaining a concession to construct, own, operate and maintain the government's gas transportation systems and associated activities in the Sultanate, said Oman Observer – Albawaba.com
