“Sama Airlines” contracted to carry more than 30,000 pilgrims
• Sama adds 9 aircraft and signs several agreements in UAE, Jordan, Afghanistan, and Nigeria.
• Special agreement signed with Afghanistan Government to carry Afghani pilgrims
• Sama is the first Low-Cost Carrier approved for Hajj this year
Sama Airlines, the newest low-fare carrier in Saudi Arabia, has signed several contracts to carry more than 30,000 Hajj pilgrims. This announcement came after gaining the approval from General Authority for Civil Aviation as an official carrier for Hajj this year (1429H). In order to carry this number of Hajjis, Sama temporarily increased its fleet to 15 aircraft from 6.
Mr. Samer Atawi, Sama Chief Commercial Officer said: “Sama’s preparation for Hajj season was started early. We added 9 aircraft to our fleet especially to carry the pilgrims to Saudi Arabia, giving Sama an extra seat capacity of more than 2,000 seats per day. Sama has signed several contracts in UAE, Jordan, Afghanistan, and Nigeria. These agreements are very important and a big step forward for Sama as it seeks to contribute to the Saudi government’s support for the Hajj season. All our efforts are being applied to ensure a smooth and successful Hajj, particularly those who are performing the Hajj pilgrimage for the first time.”
Sama’s Hajj initiative, as part of it’s “Just for you” programme of customer initiatives follows the launch of Mumbai as Sama’s newest destination. Sama’s route networks now covers the UAE, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and India.
