The inaugural Cityscape Asia exhibition and conference opens today, (Tuesday 10 April) at the Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre. To underscore the importance of the event, Singapore’s Urban Redevelopment Authority has confirmed its official support for the show and in a reciprocal move a large Middle East delegation is present to appraise current Asian real estate investment and development issues.

The oriental industry showpiece debuts with 7,000 square metres hosting over 100 exhibitors from 35 different countries. Major companies from Singapore, Australia, Malaysia, India, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, China as well as a large contingent from the Middle East, are participating. Appreciating the massive potential the region has to offer Abu Dhabi-based Sorouh, Saudi major Tanmiyat, Dubai’s Fortune Investment Group and Dheeraj & East Coast, along with Aqaba Development Corporation from Jordan, all have a significant presence. In total companies from the Middle East are covering a colossal 28 per cent of available exhibition space.

Neil Hickman, Exhibition Director, Cityscape Asia, commented, “Cityscape Asia has eclipsed all of our expectations. For Middle East developers and investors to book over a quarter of the total exhibition space for a first-time event underlines not only their confidence in the Cityscape brand but the strength of the S.E. Asian real estate market.”

Nearly 300 major public and private property developments are in progress throughout the region and growing at rate of over ten per cent annually. It is also estimated that there is over US$ 16 billion in available capital. Participants at Cityscape Asia will have a rare opportunity to network with major investors, developers and governmental authorities involved in the development, design and construction of many of these projects.

Running along side the exhibition will be the Cityscape Conference, designed to address many of the current industry issues and hot topics. Over 35 acclaimed speakers will make key contributions, during more than 20 presentations and project showcases. The keynote will be delivered by Cheong Koon Hean, CEO of Singapore’s Urban Redevelopment Authority who will share with delegates, the vision and opportunities in Singapore’s real estate market.

In parallel, two further dedicated conferences, World Architectural Conference and Retail City Conference will examine issues specific to those sectors, covering the latest developments and projects, and international best practice.
