‘e-retail’ launched as joint venture company between Memory Technology Corporation (MTC) and EMPA Middle East

Memory Technology Corporation (MTC) and EMPA Middle East, two of the largest IT distribution companies in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, have come together to launch its retail arm called ‘e-retail’, which will be a joint venture company between the two parties. e-retail was launched at a press conference held today (Monday, January 8, 2007), at Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai.

During the press conference, MTC and EMPA also announced that e-retail will be the exclusive distributor for HANNspree, the manufacturer of fashionable, innovative LCD TVs, in the MENA region excluding Saudi Arabia. In addition, e-retail will also offer its retail service to other leading multinational brands in the near future.

Speaking on the occasion, Samer el Borhan, General Manager, e-retail said, “The launch of e-retail will mark the beginning of a new chapter in consumer electronics retailing in the region. We will be retailing some of the premier IT and electronics brands, including products of HANNspree which have captivated the imagination of customers world over with their unconventional design and styling.”

“Customers in the region can not only expect high quality and innovative products at e-retail, they will also experience the highest levels of customer service,” he added.

HANNspree is the first audio-visual product brand in the world to develop fashionable products based on 360-degree design. The company has positioned itself at the forefront of the audio visual revolution, offering consumers stylish products that represent their own personality and individual tastes.

Some of HANNspree’s products that reflect their distinct design ethos include LCD TVs in the shape of basketballs, baseballs, teddy bears, elephants, giraffes and several other fascinating designs, including Disney and Warner Brothers characters. Every HANNspree product echoes the company’s brand philosophy of creating home audio visual products that combine good taste with a unique living aesthetic.

MTC has a 50,000 square feet facility in Jebel Ali Free Zone which is custom-designed for its sales, marketing, technical, finance and logistics operations. The facility also houses a state-of-the-art assembly line for GENX Notebooks and Desktop PC’s.
