Growth prospects for the hardware, machinery and tools industries in the Middle East continues to look buoyant, driven by what is primarily an import-dependent market due to minimal local production. This is stoking increased interest in the region from international manufacturers and suppliers.
Indications of this trend have been noticed by the organiser of Hardware+Tools Middle East, the regional trading platform for the industry, who has reported a steady number of inquiries and requests for additional information by those interested in establishing a presence in the Middle East market.
"Hardware+Tools Middle East is now recognised by the industry as a key access and networking event for the tools, hardware and construction machinery fields. The event has been carefully tailored to suit the needs of the quick-moving regional market and has been growing in size and scope over the years," said organiser Epoc Messe Frankfurt chief executive Ahmed Pauwels.
"Reflecting the latest trends and developments in the sector, it continues to offer key influencers, buyers and decision-makers in the region a specialised platform to assess and evaluate the products and services they require. Despite the slowdown in the construction industry, growth continues to be strong, thanks to a thriving import and re-export market. Countries like the UAE function as re-export hubs serving otherwise hard to reach onward destinations including Iran, Iraq, Central Asia, East and North Africa."
Hardware+Tools Middle East, which will be held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from May 8 to 10 expects to attract a broad range of trade visitors and buyers, specifically manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers, retailers, importers and exporters, engineers, architects and designers, facility managers, consultants, contractors, developers and trade agencies.
The 2011 event enjoyed international attendance, from 64 countries, with the top five visiting countries being Saudi Arabia, Iran, Oman, India and Bahrain.
A new focus for the 2012 edition is machinery. A range of exhibitors will showcase their products and services, particularly in the areas of aluminium, woodworking, cleaning, workshop, molding, drilling, cutting, welding and soldering machinery.
