At least two people were killed Friday during riots in Syria. There are reports that in the southern city of Deraa, four people were killed and hundreds wounded .The state media reported about "a number of instigators who tried to create chaos and unrest damaging public and private properties and setting fire to cars and shops."
Other demonstrations were reported in Damascus, Homs, and the coastal town of Banias. "The security forces fired live bullets at the protesters. Four people were killed," an activist in Deraa told AFP.
Syrian police broke up a protest after Friday prayers at the main mosque in central Damascus, dragging away at least two activists.
A video of a rally outside a mosque in the city of Homs was posted to Facebook. Dozens of protesters were seen marching, chanting "God, Syria, freedom."
Two other videos, allegedly the city of Banias, showed crowds, one with at least 100 people, chanting for freedom.
