At least six people were killed late Tuesday night and early Wednesday by Syrian security forces in the southern city of Dara'a Syria, according to a human rights activist Abdullah Abu Zaid. According to him, he has a list of names of the victims. One of them is the imam of a mosque.

Abu Zaid said in a telephone interview with Agence France Presse that new security and military enforcements entered the city. He added that soldiers from the 5th Division defected and joined the opposition.

Meanwhile, dozens of Syrian dissidents in exile met Tuesday in Istanbul to demand that the Syrian government immediately stop the repression in their country and the implementation of serious reforms starting with the establishment of a multi-party regime. About 40 people came from Britain, France, Egypt and Britain to attend the forum in Istanbul.
