An Iranian air aviation official said Monday that airports in Britain, Germany and the UAE had refused to provide Iranian passenger aircraft with fuel. The Secretary-General of the Iranian Association of irlines was quoted as saying: "Since last week, following the of the U.N. and the U.S. sanctions on Iran, airports in Britain, Germany and the UAE to provide aircraft fuel to Iran."
Earlier, Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said the international sanctions deal no blow to the country and only serve to safeguard Western powers. "The recent round of the UN Security Council sanctions will not hurt Iran. Such moves are aimed at safeguarding the West and defending the existence of Western powers," said Ahmadinejad in the opening ceremony of a major steel project in the city of Bonab in the northwestern province of East Azarbaijan.
"Bullying powers know that no room will remain for them in the world if the Iranian nation mounts its efforts," he added. "They know they cannot do a damn thing with sanctions," he stressed.
