Hizbullah leader on Monday presented images and other material he claims implicates Israel in the 2005 assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. Among the material presented by Hassan Nasrallah was what he described as Israeli reconaissance footage intercepted by Hizbullah of areas frequented by Hariri.
"I promised I would convene a press conference to open up new horizons and help in accusing Israel of the assassination of Rafik al-Hariri, and that is what I am doing," Nasrallah said in the beginning of his speech. During hs comments he also claimed that an Israeli agent told Hariri years before his assassination that Hizbullah was trying to kill him.
According to Nasrallah, Israeli operatives sought to frighten the late Lebanese premier with news of a false plot on his life as part of a larger effort to drive Syria out of Lebanon.
