According to medical sources and eyewitnesses, four people were shot dead by Tunisian security forces during clashes on Saturday between police and about 1000 demonstrators attacked a police station in the city of El Kef (some 175 km north-west of Tunisia) to protest the slapping of a woman by the station chief.
The sources said that the protestors burned a police car and later the headquarters of the police after the Khaled Ghazouani slapped a woman. Local security forces responded by opening fire on demonstrators to disperse them.
Protesters also set on fire the house of Ghazouani after the killing of the demonstrators. For its part, the Interior Ministry said in a statement conveyed by the Tunisian state television Tunisian Saturday night it "ordered the arrest of the National Security chief in Kef and bringing him to the headquarters of the Ministry of Interior (in the capital of Tunisia) to investigate him about the incident."
