Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkey's relationship with Israel depend to the acceptance of the recent conditions presented by Ankara following the 31 May's bloody attack on the Marmara ship, which was carrying aid to the Gaza Strip.
In remarks published Wednesday by Jordan's Al Arab Al Youm newspaper, Erdogan said "Our relationship with Israel is closely linked to our conditions and what we asked of them.The future will be determined in the light of that."
He said in an interview to the newspaper, "We will not keep silent, and we won't stand idly following as an assault on our rights and the breach of international laws."
Erdogan stressed that the Israeli war on Gaza between 27 December 2008 and 18 January 2009 and "the unjust embargo" imposed on the coastal enclave, "prevent the achievement of peace in the region."
The Turkish leader said that the "policy practiced by Israel, especially after the attack on Gaza and the continued policy of settlement and finally the brutal attack on the flotilla of freedom proved that Israel will not achieve peace and security via its policy of occupation and expansion."
He added that "peace in the Middle East will not be achieved without security and freedom and life with dignity and humanity for the Palestinian people."
