Jordan has announced today that it will be removing its ambassador to Morocco from office, signalling a crack in the diplomatic relations between the two countries. There has been speculation by some that this decision comes as a result of Moroccan King Mohammed VI being a no-show at the Summit, hosted this year at the Dead Sea in Jordan.

Prior to the summit King Abdullah of Jordan made a personal visit to Morocco to invite his Royal Highness king Mohammed VI. Although delegates from Morocco arrived, the King did not make an appearance.

Local Jordanian paper al ghad reported that King Mohammed VI felt that there was little point in attending, but promised that he would ‘sleep on it’. It seems as though the decision was taken very personally by King Abdullah, who less than one week after the summit has withdrawn the Jordanian ambassador to Morocco.
