Top Hamas commander Saber Siam was killed in an explosion in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, Israeli state news Arutz Sheva reported. Now the attack is being claimed by a Daesh (ISIS) affiliate in the Palestinian territory.

Palestinian media reports say Siam was killed when a set of improvised explosives were detonated as he was coming out of a shop. The Hamas commander served as the military organization's security chief in Gaza, where tensions between it and Daesh sympathizers have reportedly been on the rise since earlier this year.

Hours after his death, a group calling themselves "ISIS Brothers in Jerusalem" released a statement that's been making rounds on Daesh-affiliated media ever since. Here's the statement and it's English translation below.

Your brothers at ISIS in Jerusalem targeted the apostate (Saber Sayyam) with an explosive device during his stay in one of his commercial shops at 2:30 Sunday 13th Sahaban 1436

The apostate was targeted because of his war against the believers through his powers in the police of the apostate government in Gaza.

We also warn all security forces members in Gaza not to continue in participating in this war against our brothers, and we urge them to repent and follow our path.

And we warn all Muslims to stay way from all police stations and all government buildings to preserve their lives.
