LG, global leader and technology innovator in consumer electronics, mobile communications and home appliances, has recently sponsored fourteen King’s Academy high school students on their visit to Korea, where they took part in the first stage of the Korea Arab Cultural Exchange (KACE).

The visit’s goal of immersing King’s Academy’s students in Korean culture was fulfilled with great success, where they were encouraged to proactively experience Korea and engage with its people. Their trip was highlighted by visiting the LG Headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, where they experienced the Science Lab, and then carried on to the outskirts of Seoul, where they stopped by LG’s showroom. To further widen cross-cultural dialogue, the students also visited the Ulsan Foreign High School, where they interacted with students studying Arabic. Upon the students’ return to Jordan, they concluded the experience by visiting LG’s offices in the Kingdom to learn how operations are adapted to match the local culture and market.

Mr. Kevin Cha, LG Levant Managing Director, commented, “LG has always assumed a dynamic role in the modern globalization of the world, through its foremost communication technologies and customary communal involvement. For this reason, sponsoring King’s Academy’s student educational tour to Korea was an ideal opportunity for LG to endorse people-to-people exchanges between regions and cultures.”

Ryuji Yamaguchi, Dean of Residential Life, King’s Academy, commented, “Our visit to Korea was immensely rewarding. The students have enjoyed discovering the culture, and have returned home with a mind full of new perspectives. We are looking forward to our turn of hosting Korean students in Jordan for the second stage of KACE, in February 2012.

Lots of preparations are in store for their visit, we’re excited to unravel the Kingdom’s best cultural and tourism facets.”

KACE, funded by LG and Kolon in cooperation with the Korea Arab Society, was conceived by King’s Academy student Shin Jooho, and further developed by three more Korean King’s Academy students: Jun Jin Seul, Suhr Jae Sok, and Suhr Jae Heung.

King’s Academy is a boarding high school based in Jordan that combines a strong local identity with internationalism. The student body at King’s Academy’s represents a diverse, multinational cross-section of the Middle East.
