Cairo’s Central Auditing Agency is investigating charges against Egyptian actor Hussein Fahmi and his ex-wife prominent actress Mervat Ameen for receiving illegal property from the former Egyptian government led by Husni Mubarak.
A lawsuit has been filed against government officials for giving away land to former ministers and stars for cheap prices in Egypt’s most expensive locations. Among the artists named are Hussein and Mervat, who allegedly bought a piece of land for 31 Egyptian pounds per meter, when it was at the time was worth 500.
The regime of ousted Egyptian President Husni Mubarak purportedly gave valuable land to actors and government officials for extremely cheap prices.
