Prominent Egyptian actress Elham Shaheen revealed that life is meaningless to her especially after the loss of her mother, whom she considered a soul mate and more like a sister than a mother. Elham said that she was very close to her mother and when she passed away she took a big piece of her life with her.

During an interview with the television program “Wahid Min El Nas” (One of the people), Elham stated that she does not fear death and actually wishes to die. At the same time, she expressed the feeling of guilt she has towards her mother for leaving her to go on the religious pilgrimage Umra alone at a time when she was not feeling so well. Elham added that her mother had passed away only one day after returning from her religious pilgrimage.

Elham denied reports that she regrets not having children stressing that she never wanted to have children that will eventually suffer in their life especially since she cannot take on the responsibility of raising them despite her love and passion towards them.

With regards to her acting career, Elham said that she completed filming the scenes of her new television drama “Qadiat Ma’ali Al Wazeer” (Her Excellency the Minister) that is scheduled to be aired during the Ramadan season of 2012.

The drama stars Egyptian actors Yousif Shaaban, Mustafa Fahmi, Tamer Hajras, Nada Basyouni, Mai Nour Al Shareef, Mohammad Kamel, Ameerah Al Aydi, Reem Sabouni and Nirmeen Za’za. The script is written by Muhsin Al Jalad and direction by Rabab Hussein.
