Syrian singer Asalah Nasri has refused to talk about politics during a recent press conference held in Saudi Arabia. The singer stressed that it is not her place to talk about politics and what her views are regarding the current conditions in Syria that are devastating. She said that when stars make any kind of political statements they are usually misinterpreted.
Asalah stated that she was present at the conference to talk about the Saudi working woman and her rights and how she was very impressed with the progress and achievements of Saudi women unlike Syrian women who are being suppressed every day during the current crises in Syria.
The conference was organized by one of the major trade companies in Saudi Arabia and only a specific number of invitations to different members of the media were made.
According to the London based Elaph, Asalah said that she feels that Arab women are always subject to suppression and they are not treated fairly. She stated that women should be treated with compassion and given the chance to prove their independence. Asalah noted that the Saudi woman is the most powerful of all other Arab women for she has proved herself in a society that is very conservative and closed off.
During the conference, Asalah was asked why she sometimes acts spoiled and she answered that she enjoys acting spoiled especially in front of her family and friends and does not like to always have a serious attitude. Asalah said that she is not the secretive type and has nothing to hide, in addition to the fact that despite her daring personality and attitude, she never speaks ill of anyone regardless of her feelings towards a specific person.
With regards to her new album, Asalah revealed that it will be released on her birthday and it will be a huge surprise to all her fans. She said that she has incorporated a new style of singing for some of the songs that will surely surprise everyone.
