During a recent concert held by Egyptian superstar Amr Diab at the American University in Cairo (AUC), the singer avoided talking about the Egyptian January 25 Revolution that overthrew the government of ousted President Husni Mubarak.

According to the internet website MBC.net, fans that attended the concert expected the singer to make some kind of remark regarding the revolution or even open the concert by singing his latest song “Masr Qalat” (Egypt Said), which he released after the revolution. Instead, Amr began his concert with the song “Aslaha BItifriq” (It makes a difference).

During the concert, Diab sang the last part of the song “Egypt Said” and said that he only included the end of the song because it is the most expressive.

Diab faced harsh criticism for his silence during the revolution, but was able to retain his popularity, demonstrated by the crowds that attended his AUC concert.
