An Egyptian judge has accused prominent Egyptian comedian actor Adel Imam of bribing a prosecuter to set his good friend actor Saeed Saleh free. The judge said that Adel presented him with a suitcase full of money to set Saleh, who is charged with indecent behavior in his play “Li’bah Isimha Al Fuloos” (A game called money), free.
Prosecutor Mohammad Badr said that the Egyptian Censorship Committee had filed a complaint against Saleh accusing him of crossing the line during his play with indecent remarks and actions, and when he was called in for questioning, Saleh failed to attend. His failure to attend the hearing led to his arrest for a period of one week.
The prosecutor added that the same day Saleh was arrested he was surprised by a visit from Adel accompanied by three lawyers carrying a suitcase full of money. Adel had told the prosecutor to take the suitcase and consider it as Saleh’s bail or anything he wants just as long as he sets Saleh free.
Mohammad had resigned from his job as prosecutor at an Alexandria court during the former regime of Husni Mubarak and decided to work for himself as a lawyer refusing to be pressured by officials to make decisions he should not.
