Jordanian Association of Management Accountants holds a business lunch in honor of IMA President & CEO

To further develop professional ties with International associations and institutions in the field of management accountancy, the Jordanian Association of Management Accountants (JAMA) met, on the sidelines of the STEP2010 Forum, with Jeffery Thomson, the president & CEO of the American Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), and shed light, during the meeting, on its activities and contributions to business circles in Jordan, and discussed with the guest bilateral and cooperation relations.
In honor of Mr. Thomson, JAMA held a business luncheon on 3 November 2010, to which it invited CFOs of some of the large Jordanian companies.
It is worth noting, in this regard, that JAMA signed an agreement with the IMA according to which, members will be offered a joint membership in both associations to strengthen the affiliation agreement between JAMA and IMA that was signed in March 2010.
Launched only 8 months ago, JAMA could attract the membership of 100 accountants. The Jordanian Association shares almost identical objectives with the American Institute, namely advancing the role of management accountants and financial managers within the business operations. Commenting on the affiliation, JAMA President, Ammar Khayyat said, "We are proud to have been able to attract this number of accountants in such a short period of time. We recently launched the weekly training program which is based on short seminars and workshops that tackles experience and knowledge needs of our members."
Added Khayyat, "I seize this opportunity to extend my appreciation to our 2010 sponsors, namely Cairo Amman Bank, Hikma Pharmaceutical Group, Jordan Telecom Co. (Orange), Jabbar Internet Group, Jordan Mobile Telephone Services (Zain), Aroma Group and Morgan International."
On his part Jeffery Thomson stressed the importance of the role management accountants play in raising the standard of management accountancy in their respective business organizations, referring at the same time to the valuable certificate (CMA) that the IMA grants in the field of accountancy in general, and management accountancy in particular.
It is important to note that JAMA, a nonprofit association, is an amalgamation of two creative concepts : creating accountancy programs, training or otherwise, to raise and upgrade the quality standard of accountants in the country on the one hand, and establishing a strategic partnership with the American Institute of Management Accountants (IMA)in Jordan on the other.
