ISIT Middle East, the regional arm of Europe’s pioneering data storage and security solutions provider, today announced its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mahesh Vaidya will discuss best practices relevant to cloud computing at a panel discussion during GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK 2010, the largest ICT exhibition in the Middle East.

To be held on 20 October at the Cloud Confex Programme, the panel will primarily focus on performance, management and security of Cloud Computing. The discussion will include best practices for moving into the public or hybrid model, regional realities in public/hybrid clouds (enabling or evolving), as well as enabling workforce mobility and increasing security through virtualisation and the cloud.

The GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK 2010 will be held from 17-21 October at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. ISIT will be present at Hall 3 along with Symantec, a global leader in providing security, storage and systems management solutions to help consumers and organisations secure and manage their information-driven world.

ISIT will leverage the event to showcase specialised services in its portfolio such as disaster recovery, global clustering for application availability, backup optimisation with de-duplication and electronic vaulting, information technology governance, risk and compliance (ITGRC), and data loss prevention (DLP).

Vaidya said: “Cloud computing is a technology implemented across enterprises in the region and globally. But the security features are still not clear to customers. Many are left perplexed as they are not aware of the security levels to be maintained on both public and private cloud networks. As mobility increases among the workforce, security aspects have to be maintained in both virtualised and cloud solutions.

“Managing security on the cloud is a challenge that needs to be addressed by the customer. Security assessments are, therefore, imperative. Cloud computing has unique attributes that also require risk assessments in areas such as data integrity, recovery and privacy, and an evaluation of legal issues in the domains of regulatory compliance and auditing.”

The other panelists at the Cloud Confex Programme will include Wael El Kabbany, Managing Director - Middle East and North Africa, British Telecom; Martin Sundahl, Chief Technology Officer, Comendo A/S; Maksym Schipka, Director - Research and Development Europe, Kaspersky Lab; Firas Sleiman, Lead Enterprise Architect-Senior Manager, Musanada; Lionel Raina, Vice-President - EEMEA Region, Orange Business Services; Bharat Raigangar, Country Head - Security and Risk-Business Services, Royal Bank of Scotland; and Nick Black, Technical Manager, Middle East Africa at Trend Micro.

ISIT’s offerings enable customers to build a storage and security infrastructure that is customised to meet the unique business needs of organisations across sectors. From banking and finance, oil and gas, government, manufacturing, telecommunications, healthcare and education, ISIT’s team of qualified consultants understand the market needs through delivering a host of storage and security solutions that range from consultancy, product technologies, implementation and support to training IT managers on site.
