A television host has raised eyebrows in Egypt after he claimed that the Muslim Brotherhood were behind the anti-Trump demonstrations in the US.

“This is the first time we have seen demonstrations in America,” he suggested, implying that they must be the result of outside influence.

“People just want democracy to reflect how they feel. Either Hillary wins or nothing: protests, destruction, setting fire to cars.”

“Most of the demonstrators were from Middle Eastern countries, the terrorist organization of the [Muslim] Brotherhood, they are the ones who brought out the people,” he alleged.

Ahmed Mousa made the comments on the “It’s my responsibility” program broadcast by the Sada el-Belad channel.

Egyptians have ridiculed the journalist's comments online:

Ahmed Mousa thinks that there were loads of people from the Brotherhood in the protests in America. What a load of rubbish!

What do the American elections have to do with you, you backwards person!

Ahmed Mousa: the Muslim Brotherhood are behind the American protests and some of them were arrested.
