Earlier this month, the world mocked US Republicans after a survey found that 30 percent of them would support the bombing of Agrabah, a fictional city in the Disney movie Aladdin. 532 Republican primary voters were polled by Public Policy Polling, with supporters of Donald Trump most likely to say that they would support the bombing.
However the tables appear to have turned, with WPA Research carrying out a survey on Democrats in order to find out if they were equally ignorant. And it turns out they sort of are, although instead of bombing the cartoon city, they were happy to accept refugees from it.
“Would you support or oppose allowing refugees from Agrabah to be re-settled in the United States?”
This was the question posed to 1,132 registered voters, and the results showed that 44 percent of Democrats asserted that they would indeed support taking in refugees from the Disney city.
27 percent opposed taking the refugees, while a further 28 percent were indifferent.
Younger people were more likely to approve of taking in the Agrabah refugees, with 66 percent of those aged 18-34 answering in the affirmative.
They may not know that its not a real place, but at least the Democrats are welcoming to refugees regardless of their place of origin.
