Where has Yousra disappeared off to?
The Egyptian actress has been out of the public eye and only on our TV screens through her hit drama show "Saraya Abdeen."
For some reason, Yousra has also turned down invitations to appear on any of the talkshows airing during the Holy month of Ramadan. Heck, she's even gone as far as rejecting all of the press' phonecalls!
But Yousra did say one thing; the starlet is upset with the fact that "Saraya Abdeen" has been bombarded with negative criticism and being accused of being an imitation of the hit Turkish TV drama "Hareem Al Sultan."
The actress is also unhappy with the fact that the drama was considered as an insult to the history of Egypt.
According to Laha Magazine, Yousra stressed that the criticism made against the drama failed to understand that it is a social drama with imagined events and not a historical documentary of the life of Khedive Ismail. She added that most dramas that tackle historical events include imagination and added creativity by the scenarist.
Yousra said, "The attacks made by King Foad - the last of Egypt’s Kings - on the drama and its makers are unjust and contain a lack of understanding of the nature of the artistic work added, especially since director Amro Arafa clearly states at the beginning credits of each episode that it’s based on actual events that occurred and not a replica or a documentary of those events."
Yousra added that many have reprimanded her for taking part in a drama that's apparently below her "high standards."
The drama stars Egyptian actresses Ghada Adel, Nelly Karim, Yousra and Syrian Qusai Khouli.
The script was written by Kuwaiti author Mishari Hamada and directed by Amro Arafah.
