Prominent Egyptian director Yousif Shahin has fired an attack on the Egyptian Broadcasting Company for their recent decision of banning his appearance from their local and satellite channels. Yousif has stated that he feels disgrace for the attitude of the television network that shows no form of respect for freedom of speech or shows any sign of democracy.

The director added that he is disgusted to think that such hard headed persons in censorship have such a domination over the network and still apply rules that are now out-dated and belonged to past eras. Yousif stressed that the actions of the network proves that they have a long way until they reach the level other television channels have reached.

The administration of the Egyptian Broadcasting Company had decided to ban the appearance of Yousif on all its local and satellite channels, after the crisis he created when he appeared on the popular program “Al Bait Baitak”.

It was argued that during the episode Yousif was held guest on, his comments demanded extreme censorship and that he neglects to follow the set standards of what should and should not be said on television. Sharif’s manner was considered insulting to the presenter of the show and the people he had talked about.

Director of the program dropped a bombshell when he revealed that the episode was not filmed live and that it could have gone through censorship to cut out all the comments that were considered inappropriate.

The director added that the fact is that Yousif had requested that the episode not be aired because of his deteriorating health condition, which he accuses the organizers of the program to be the cause of.  Yousif was admitted to hospital in Egypt after he suffered a brain stroke. Doctors were successful in treating him and stabilizing his condition.
